CORDELE — Funeral services for Sara Frances Murphy Ingram will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.

Sara was born in Dooly County and was the daughter of the late Samuel Oliver Murphy and the late Lydia Lorena Cox Murphy. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Herbert Joiner Ingram and her siblings Webster Murphy, Lucy Murphy, Sam Murphy, Ellen Wilder and Marvin Murphy.

Sara was a 1949 graduate of the University of Georgia. She taught school for 37 years with 19 of those years at Crisp Academy. She was an active member of the Cordele First Baptist Church. She also taught Sunday School for 50 years. Mrs. Sara loved all of her family and even enjoyed making their clothes as a hobby.

She is survived by her children: Stephen J. Ingram of Cordele, Mark M. (Michelle) Ingram of Vienna and Melinda (David) Fowlkes of Burkeville, Va.; grandchildren Kirby M. (Kinsey) Ingram, Kristin I. (Evan) Wittry, Karlie (David) Mixon, Brian (Diane) Fowlkes, Suzanne (Toby) Towler, Kathryn (Josh) Frank and Stuart (Jena) Fowlkes; nine great-grandchildren.
