Obituary for Bennie E. Smith
CORDELE — Bennie Emmett Smith, 67, of Vienna, Ga., died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Crisp Regional Hospital. A local memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Additional services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Fairgrove Baptist Church in Conover, NC. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until time of service at the church.
Mr. Smith, a native of Albany, Ga., is the son of George Ivines Smith and the late Mary Hendix Smith. He retired from the recreation and maintenance department for the city of Clifton, N.J. He was also a member of Fairgrove Baptist Church in Conover, N.C.
Mr. Smith is survived by his father George Ivines Smith, of Vienna, Ga.; his cousin: Greta (David) O’Neal, who was like a sister, of Pinehurst, Ga.; his aunts: Odelle Hefner and Irene Catalana both of Hickory, N.C.; his uncle: Grady (Patty) Smith of Leesburg, Ga.; and several cousins.
