Obituary

CORDELE — Flora Willard McNett, 86, of Cordele, died Friday, June 5, 2020, at Cordele Health & Rehab. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2020 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Due to COVID-19 regulations, seating is limited to 50 people, social distancing must be maintained and masks are recommended.

Mrs. McNett was born in Monroe, Ga. to Sally May Adcock Willard and George Wesley Willard. She is the widow of Jack Marvin McNett. She is also preceded in death by two sons: George E. Dent, Jr. and Joseph Dent; eight siblings: Inez Lollis, Agnes Weldon, Jim Willard, George Willard Dent., Joe Willard, Elizabeth Hall, Jackie Willard, and Gene Willard; and her grandson: Scot “Bubba” Dent, Jr.

Mrs. McNett was a Baptist and attended Cordele First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, even if it was in the heat of the day. She also put others first. She took care of her family and all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All of her grands attended “Grandmother’s Day Care” as they grew up and became adults.

She is survived by her children: Nan (Warren) Swint and Lydia (Renay) Adkins all of Cordele and Scott (Melody) Dent of Pitts; her sister: Shirley Willard Mullens of Jacksonville, Fla; her grandchildren: David Swint, Kristen Adkins-Murdock, Kelly Adkins Glass, Heather Davidson, and Dameon Dent; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Lydia,and family,I met Flora a few years ago while we were shopping in the drugstore. It was really nice to talk with her. We had attended the same school at one time,and she had planned to come to our next school reunion. She was such a sweet lady, and I'm truly sorry for your loss.
