Funeral services for Shirley G. Davis, 80, will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. before the funeral. Shirley passed away Thursday night, Sept. 20, 2018 at Crisp Regional Hospital.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association Georgia, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346
Shirley was born in Cordele to Marion Gilliam and Sammie Ruth Bridges Gilliam. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bobby Wyndell Davis.
She was an administrative assistant for the Crisp County School System and later the Crisp County Health Department. She was a member of the Cordele First Baptist Church where she was a member of The Merry Sunday School Class. When her health permitted her, she had been a member of the Red Hat Club. She also enjoyed her bridge club and shopping.
She is survived by her children: Rob Davis and Kay Appelgate both of Powder Springs, Ga.; her sisters: Freddie Gilliam of Cordele and Ann (Andy) Cobb of California; her granddaughters: Bobbi-Nicole Appelgate and Dani-Wynn Appelgate; and several nieces and nephews.
