Obituary for Lucius Martin Bolin Jr.

CORDELE — Lucius Martin Bolin, Jr., 91, died early Wednesday morning at his son’s Richard’s residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Warwick United Methodist Church, Warwick, Ga. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Dooly County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Mr. Bolin was born to Lucius Martin Bolin and Clevie Powell Bolin, which would become a family of seven children. Lucius was the last of his siblings and proceeded in death by his sisters: Ethel Bolin, Florine Bolin Jackson, Merle Bolin Doster, Agnes Bolin Mandello, Hazel Bolin and Alma Bolin. Lucius was later preceded in death by two sons: Willie Olds and Lonnie Olds.

Lucius left school at a young age to assist the family farm. Once he turned 18, he answered the call to duty by the United States and enlisted in the U. S. Army. Following the Army, he returned home to help farm once again. Later, he was employed with Southern Frozen Foods in Montezuma in the maintenance department. He was also a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children: Richard (Tammy) Bolin of Cordele, Leroy Bolin of Savannah, Ga., Obie Olds of Dadeville, Ala., Gayle Boykin of Sylvania, Ga., Emory Olds of Jesup, Ga., Mark Olds and Donnie Olds both of Cordele; his grandchildren: Taylor Bolin Hollis of Leslie, Ga., Faith Bolin of Cordele and Courtney Brown of Savannah; his great-grandchildren: K. J. Hollis and Konner Hollis; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Should friends desire, the family has suggested memorial donations may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church or Warwick United Methodist Church.
