Ethel W.  Whiddon
Funeral services for Ethel W. Whiddon, 79, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Third Street Baptist Church. The family will receive friends two hours before the service beginning at 9 a.m. Rev. James Kelley will officiate. Mrs. Whiddon died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family Wednesday evening, Nov. 29, 2017.

She was the daughter of Loran McCagor Wright and Bessie Burnette Wright. She was the widow of Wayne Lavon Whiddon. She is preceded in death by her sister, Desma Wright.

She was a member of Third Street Baptist Church. She was a retired insurance agent and owner of Whiddon Insurance Agency. During her years as owner, she was the recipient of many awards.

She is known most affectionately by her family for her sacrifice, generosity and faithfulness. It was always evident that she loved the Lord. All of her family will dearly miss her.

She is survived by her children: Brent (Carolyn) Whiddon of Cornersville, TN., Catherine Whiddon of Cordele and Martha (Roy) Chalker of Augusta; her sisters: Katie Farrow and Lucille Law both of Cordele; her grandchildren: Christopher (Jennifer) Jenkins, Leslie (Mike) Woods, Brenton (Millia) Belcher, Jackson Belcher, Carrigan Belcher, Brook (Daniel) Fowl, Mallory (Jordan) Lee, Laney Whiddon, Nina Whiddon, Nathan Whiddon, Benjamin Whiddon, Lindsay Whiddon, Michael Whiddon and Timothy Whiddon; and eight great-grandchildren.
