James Larry Johnson, 66, died Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Taylor Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11a.m.

Larry was born in Americus, Ga. to the late Phillip Elmore Johnson and the late Ovenie Ruth Gazaway Johnson. He is also preceded in death by his siblings Betty Stewart and Lester Johnson. He was of the Baptist faith.

Larry was a retired motor grader operator for Crisp County Public Works. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and racing. He was known for his love of life and contagious laughter. He was well known for his pranks and jokes. No friend or loved one was safe from being the subject of his pranks. Those that were on the receiving end could consider it was because of his love for each of you.

Surviving Larry are his children: Keyisha Johnson and James (Leeann) Johnson all of LaGrange, Ga.; his brother: Robert Johnson of Cordele; his sisters: Mary (Rondal) Densmore of Suwanee, Ga. and Patricia Dean of Cordele; his grandchildren: Karalena McCurry, Megan McCurry, Roger (Sally) Johnson and Brooklyn Nicole Johnson; his great-grandchildren: Colt Johnson and Adalee Daniel; and the mother of his children: Dianne Worthy of LaGrange.
