ROCHELLE — Brenda L. Gibbs, 73, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 at her residence in Rochelle, Ga. Services will be private at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Hand of Hope Ministry, 1205 South Seventh Street, Cordele, GA 31015.

Mrs. Gibbs was a native of Smithville, NC. and the daughter to the late George Cooke and the late Lucille Parish Cooke. She was a retired food service manager for the Wilcox County State Prison. She was predeceased by her grandson Billy Sims and a grandson - in- law Jason Baker.

Mrs. Gibbs was survived by her husband James D. “Bo” Gibbs of Rochelle, Ga.; sons: Eugene Best of Rochelle, Ga., Jay Gibbs and his wife Ashley of Buena Vista, Ga.; daughters: Luann Willard and her husband Jack of Rochelle, Ga., Denise Gordon of Rochelle, Ga., Venita Williams of Rochelle, Ga. and Cathy Childs and her husband David of Cordele, Ga.; brother: Bobby Cooke and his wife Lena of Smithville, VA.; grandchildren: Melissa Marchant and her husband John, Melinda Willard, Michele Thompson, Melanie Willard Baker, Christina Bray and her husband Ben, Tyler VandeRiet, Justin, Austin, and Lyndsea Childs, Shelby Harper and her husband Korey, Kayla Gordon, , Zeke Best and Jayda Gibbs; great-grands: Kiersten Lamb, Gillian Lamb, Wesley Baker, Evan Baker, Lana Bray and Cassidy Baker. Also surviving her is her beloved dog, Boomer, who brought her great joy in life.
