CORDELE – Thomas Ray Herndon, Sr., 75, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the Crisp Regional Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2021 the Seville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at the funeral home. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are recommended and social distancing should be maintained.

Mr. Herndon was born in Wilmington, N.C. to the late Rayford Albert and Dolly Christine Mercer Herndon Allison. He was an active member of Seville Baptist where he had served as a Deacon for a number of years. He had a servant’s heart and served with the Georgia Baptist Builders and the Bold Mission Builders. He was an outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting. He was a Ret. Conductor with the CSX Railroad for 33 years. He also answered the call of his country by serving in Vietnam as a U. S. Air Force Veteran.

He is survived by his wife: Sue Herndon of Seville; his children: Thomas Ray (Kristi) Herndon, Jr., Matthew James (Jennifer) Herndon and Beth Herndon Collins all of Seville; and Crystal Herndon (Johnathon) Goodman of Vienna; his siblings: Walter (Trish) Herndon of Oregon, William (Cheryl) Herndon and Jerry (Sherry) Herndon all of Jacksonville, Fla., Kenneth (Ruth) Herndon of Leslie, Ga., Luther Herndon of Dawson, Ga., and Jeff (Cheryl) Allison of Leslie; and his grandchildren: Kacey Collins, Kaden Collins, Wyatt Hart, Lauren Goodman, John Goodman, James Herndon and Olivia Herndon.
