Obituary for Norman Ellis Barefoot

MCDONOUGH – Private funeral services for Norman Ellis Barefoot, 83, will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Seville Cemetery. Due to the Covid pandemic, seating is limited, masks are required, social distancing should be maintained. The family asks that you kindly refrain from physical condolences such as shaking hands, hugging, and kissing. Direct eye contact, loving words, and a warm demeanor are just as meaningful to the family.

Mr. Barefoot passed away Jan. 11, 2021 at Piedmont Henry Hospital. He was born in Pitts, Ga. to Raymond and Lillie McGehee Barefoot. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Jane Register Barefoot, and his three siblings Charles Barefoot, Shelby Downs and Henry Barefoot.

He was a member of Seville Baptist Church and an avid fan of University of Georgia football. He was a retired computer tech with Western Union for 23 years and AT&T for five years. He loved his family and his life was centered around them. He and his late wife were known as the neighborhood parents to all the children there.

He is survived by his children: David Barefoot and his wife Rhonda of McDonough, Ga., Donna Hollowell and her husband Tim of Covington, Ga., and Karen Oglesby and her husband Eric of Locust Grove, Ga; his sister: Essie Mae Pipkin of Warner Robins, Ga.; his grandchildren: Justin and Amber Woodliff, Brett Barefoot, Pamela and Chris Hopper, Dana Barefoot and Amanda Bowman; and four great-grandchildren.
