I met and became good friends with Mack in the mid 60's. I lived in Seville, Ga. and drove to Cordele Uniform Co. to work.
I would stop at his store to buy gas, drinks, and other nic/nacks. One day I stopped there and lost a black onyx ring in the
gravel around the gas pumps. I told Mack this and he said he would keep a look out for it. About three weeks later I stopped by and he presented me with my ring, of course it was bent something awful, like it has been ran over. I asked how he found it and this is what he told me. " I just keep throwing coke caps for "Doc" to fetch and after several times he brought me your ring". Doc was his beloved Black Lab. Today I have a Chocolate Lab. I treasured my friendship with Mack and Doc greatly.
I thought of them often and wondered if he was still in the Cordele area. My deepest condolences on your lost.
