James Carlton "Carl"  Apperson
NORMAN PARK — James Carlton “Carl” Apperson, 79, passed away at his residence Friday night, Jan. 5, 2018. Funeral services for Carl will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, from the graveside at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Rev. Hicks Brown will officiate the service.

Andy Spurling, Blake Spurling, Lance Spurling, Barry Knox, Cory Perkins, Cody Perkins and Ray White will serve as pallbearers.

Carl was the last surviving child of James Dawson Apperson and Egglie Neggles Apperson. He was born in Sylvester, Ga and preceded in death by his son, Darren Apperson, and his siblings: Curtis Apperson, Ruth Graham and Verna Mae King.

He served his country bravely during the Korean Conflict in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed fishing. He especially enjoyed visiting his fishing home at Suwannee, Fla.

Carl is survived by his wife: Brenda Apperson of Norman Park, Ga.; his sons and their wives: Kenneth (Glenda) Apperson of Norman Park, Steve (Sandy) Apperson of Doerun, Ga. and Ray (Lisa) White of Forsyth, Ga.; his daughters and their husbands: Teresa (Ben) Van Meter of Dothan, Ala. and Tammy (Andy) Spurling of Cordele; his three grandchildren: Cory Perkins, Cody Perkins, Brandy Apperson, Lance Spurling and Blake Spurling; and a great-grandchild: Cotton Noah Apperson, Brooks Spurling and Jason Spurling..
