Obituary for Grace Mathews Register
TIFTON — Grace Mathews Register, 97, of Cordele, Ga. died Monday, Aug. 24, 2020 at the home of her grandson in Tifton, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the chapel service. A family only burial will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery following the visitation.
Grace Mathews Register was born in Orlando, Fla. to Albert Otis Mathews and Amy Garner Mathews. She is the widow of Frank Register. She is preceded in death by her siblings: William Mathews, John Mathews, Russell Mathews, and Stanley Mathews; and her granddaughter: Grace Ann Register Bryant.
Mrs. Register was a faithful member of Northern Heights Baptist Church and Third Street Baptist Church as long as she was able to attend. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her children: Carolyn Wright of Cordele, Ga. and Douglas (Theresa) Register of Rockville, Md.; her sister Betty Jean Dinwiddie of Mary Esther, Fl.; her grandchildren: Michael (Lori) James of Tifton, Ga. and Matthew Register of Rockville, Md.; her great-grandchildren: Jimmy (Martha) James of Blue Springs, Miss., Ashley James of Acworth, Ga., William James of Tifton, Ga., and Aubrey Grace Register of Rockville, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
