SEVILLE — Ethelle Thornton, 95, of Seville passed away early Monday morning, April 20, 2020, at her residence. Arrangements will be announced upon completion.

Mrs. Thornton was born in Wilcox County, Ga. to Estelle Saludia Mitchell Watson and Julius Jeff Watson. She is the widow of James Davis “J.D.” Thornton. She is also preceded in death by her siblings: Roscoe Watson, Ruby Davis, Christine Goodwyne, Inez Hilton Powell, Bessie Clark, Otha Watson and Estelle Bragg; and a granddaughter: Myria.

She was an active member of Seville Baptist Church. She participated in the WMU and the church choir as her health permitted. She was an avid gardener and homemaker that truly loved her family.

She is survived by her children: Charles David (Sylvia) Thornton of Cordele, Dorothy Sue (Tommy) Herndon of Seville and Carol J. (Jimmy) Register of Seville; her sister: Mary Burnette of Cordele; her five grandchildren: Tommy (Kristi) Herndon, Matthew (Jennifer) Herndon, Beth Collins, Crystal (Johnathon) Goodman and Jonathan (Katie) Register; 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.
