Obituary for Emily Noble McQuaig

Emily Noble McQuaig, 77, of Blackshear died Friday morning (Dec. 4, 2020) at her residence after short illness. She was born in Cordele, GA to the late J.W. and Marjorie Hubbard Noble. Mrs. McQuaig attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College and graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was a middle school teacher for the Pierce County Board of Education for most of her career and retired after thirty-two years. Mrs. McQuaig was a member of First Baptist Church and the Enriched Sunday School Class. She was also a former member of the Waycross Women’s Club. Mrs. McQuaig was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandsons at the go cart races, saltwater fishing, and watching them in the fields on the tractors.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Beth Walker Blythe.

Survivors include her husband, Donnie McQuaig of Blackshear; one son, Richard Blythe of Blackshear; two grandsons, Ben Blythe and Walker Blythe, both of Blackshear; one sister, Beverly Noble McCay Barr of Cordele, GA; two step-children, Kelly McQuaig and Shannon McQuaig; nieces, Amy Perry (husband Craig) and Becky Poland Campbell; nephews, Hal McCay (Kelea) and Doug Poland; great niece, Kristen Baker (husband Shannon), Patrick McCay, Hali McCay, Tori Campbell, and Josh Campbell; great-great nephews, Dawson and Ridge Baker.

A funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11 am at First Baptist Church in Blackshear. Burial will follow in Waters Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday morning beginning at 10 am at the church.
