Obituary for Ernestine "Teen" Chandler Parker

Funeral services Ernestine “Teen” Chandler Parker, 89, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Penia Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Penia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Mrs. Parker died Monday evening, June 22, 2015, at Crisp Regional Hospital.

“Teen” was born in Seville, Ga. to the late Willis Monroe Chandler and the late Annie Ruth White Chandler. She was the wife of the late Henry Randall Parker for 52 years. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Mildred Chandler, Irene Purnell, Charles Chandler and Nettie Jean Chandler.

A longtime member of Penia Baptist Church, “Teen” was a homemaker. She was a very studious student in her high school years and was the class valedictorian. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her family that she loved dearly, she loved to read and she was active in her church.

She is survived by her children: Lee R. “Ronnie” (Mary Joyce) Parker of Cordele; Janet (Jerry) Dowdy of Columbia, S.C. and Nancy Parker (Jimmy) Rigdon of Cordele; her siblings: Donald (Johnette) Chandler of Dade City, Fla.; Carolyn (Stan) Sumner of Dublin, Ga. and Ann (Flynn) Bowie of Columbia, S. C.; her grandchildren: Jeff (Mary) Parker, Jennifer Parker (Charles) Guyer, Scott (Kelly) Dowdy and Steve (Donna) Dowdy; and her great-grandchildren: Sam Parker, Adi Parker, Charles Parker Guyer, Harrison Dowdy and Meredith Parker Dowdy.
