Hughes & Wright Funeral Home, Inc. opened on April 12, 1977 with co-owners Charles L. Hughes and A.J. Wright.

Charles L. Hughes moved to Cordele in 1936 and served almost 40 years as a licensed Funeral Director. He passed away in 1996 and is survived by his wife Dell Faircloth Hughes.

A. J. Wright, Owner / Licensed Funeral Director / Licensed Embalmer

A lifelong resident of Crisp County, is a graduate of Crisp County High School and the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas. He served for 12 years as Crisp County Coroner and is a member of the Cordele Lions Club and Cordele First Baptist Church. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer.

Tommy Kilcrease, Licensed Funeral Director / Licensed Embalmer / Life Insurance Agent / Notary Public

A native of Crisp County, first began his career with the Hughes & Wright Funeral Home in 1982. He returned in 1985 as a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a graduate of Crisp County High School and a member of the Northern Heights Baptist Church, where he is active serving as purchasing agent, deacon and church organist. He is a licensed funeral director, embalmer and life insurance agent and member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia.

Brandon Roobin, Licensed Embalmer / Notary Public

A native of Crisp County, began his career with Hughes & Wright Funeral Home in 1991. He is a graduate of Crisp Academy and the Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a member of the Cordele First Baptist Church. Brandon is married to the former Renea Davis of Rochelle. They have a daughter, Reece. He is a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia and is a licensed embalmer.

Dustin Waldrip, Licensed Embalmer

A native of Crisp County, is a graduate of Crisp County High School. He is also a graduate Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro, Georgia receiving a degree in Applied Science in Funeral Service Education. He is a licensed embalmer and a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia. He attends the Cordele First Baptist and joined the Hughes & Wright Funeral Home staff in August, 2009.

Jimmy Black, Licensed Funeral Director / Licensed Embalmer

A native of Crisp County, Jimmy joined Hughes & Wright Funeral Home in 1980. He is a graduate of Crisp County High School and the Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia. Jimmy has one child, Lauren. He is a member of the Cordele Lions Club and is a former Cordele City Commissioner. He is married to the former Holly Ramsey of Albany. He currently serves as pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer and a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia.

David Humber, CFSP, MBIE, Licensed Embalmer / Licensed Funeral Director

A resident of Vienna, GA, David is a licensed embalmer and a licensed funeral director. He is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science and member of Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, a member of British Institute of Embalmers and a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church where he serves on the Administrative Council. He is a member and past-president of Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia.

Blakely Humber, Licensed Funeral Director / Notary

A resident of Vienna, GA, Blakely is a licensed funeral director and member of Vienna United Methodist Church where she is co-chairman of the church food bank. She is chairman of the Vienna Historic Preservation Commission and a member of Dooly County Health Emergency Assessment Resource Team. As an organ recipient, she is a very active supporter of organ and tissue recovery and member of Georgia Transplant Advisory Council for Middle Georgia.

Carolyn Wright, Licensed Master Cosmetologist / Lady Attendant / Funeral Assistant / Notary

A lifelong resident of Crisp County, Carolyn is a graduate of Crisp County High School and Albany Area Vocational-Technical School. She is a lady attendant, licensed master cosmetologist and funeral assistant. She is a member of Northern Heights Baptist Church.

T. W. Kilcrease, Funeral, Office and Visitation Assistant

T. W. Kilcrease is a native of Worth County, GA. He is retired from the Georgia Department of Labor and member of Northern Heights Baptist Church.
