Obituary for Jesse Watson Hill

JOHNS CREEK – Funeral services for Jesse Watson Hill, 70, will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2018, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. A life celebration will be held on May 23rd at Buckhead Club, Atlanta from 1:30 to 4 pm.

Mr. Hill died Sunday evening, May 13, 2018, at Emory Johns Creek Hospital in Johns Creek, Ga. He was born in Americus, Ga. to William Jesse Hill, III and Marlin Labell Newberry Hill. He was a retired attorney, and spent many years as a partner with the law firm Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy in Atlanta. He was a 1966 graduate of Albany High School, and in 1970 he received his A.B. from Duke University. In 1973, he received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School where he was also the managing Editor of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law. He served on the U. S. EPA Asbestos in Schools Committee and represented many national and international firms in product liability cases throughout the U.S. He was an Eagle Scout and a certified U.S.A. Swimming Official. He enjoyed competitive swimming, particularly those events involving his children, Duke basketball, and Atlanta Braves baseball.

He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth “Betty” Hill of Johns Creek; his children: Michael William (Jana) Hill of Bogart, Ga., Jeffrey Carlton Hill and Richard David Hill both of Roswell, Ga., and Mary Elizabeth Hill (Steve) Newman of Monticello, Ga.; and his siblings: Wayne Perry (Karen) Hill, Jerry David Hill, Ann Hill (Henry) Butts all of Cordele, Ga. and Jenny Hill (Rob) Parker of Stockbridge, Ga.
