Juanita Harpe Pitts, 90, died Saturday, April 7, 2018, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Pleasant View Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2018 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pitts is the daughter of Leonard Issac Harpe and Julia Elizabeth Johns Harpe. She is the widow of Benjamin Felder Pitts. She is also preceded in death by her son, Ronald Pitts, and two brothers, Leonard Harpe, Jr. and Kevin Harpe.

She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She was very active with the WMU. She was a Sunday School teacher and the church historian. She served her Lord as long as she was able. She was a retired telephone operator supervisor having worked for 33 years with the local Southen Bell office. She was also a lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers.

She is survived by her daughters: Janet (Joey) James of Warwick, Ga. and Donna (Steve) Rousey of Cordele, Ga.; her grandchildren: Maribeth (Rusty) Slade, Ashley (Keith) Sirmans and Edward (Sarah) James; her great-grandchildren: Jonathan (Heidi) Stokes, Elizabeth Stokes, Joseph Stokes, Madelyn James, Allison James, Harper James, Hunter Slade and Makenley Slade; her sister-in-law: Gwendolyn Harpe; special nephews: James Harpe, Julian Harpe and Charles Harpe; and other nephews and a niece: Dennis Harpe, David Harpe, Douglas Harpe, Clay Thaxton and Celia George.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Georgia Children’s Home Baxley Campus, 9420 Blackshear Hwy., Baxley, GA 31513.
