Funeral services for Cecilia Karen Laxton, 76, will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the chapel service. Burial will be in Christian Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Wilcox County, Ga.

Mrs. Laxton died Sunday night, Dec. 31, 2017 at Crisp Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of James Eddie Rutherford and Pansy Preston Lamb Rutherford. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Lee Laxton.

She was a member of Northern Heights Baptist Church. She was a retired accountant for the Office of Personnel Management at the U. S. Logistics Marine Base in Albany, Ga. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy.

She is survived by her children: Franklin Delan Roundtree, Jr. of Fayette City, Penn, Tammy Welch of Cordele, Bridgette Williams of Cordele and Charmion Hooper of Jesup, Ga.; her brother: Ruben Rutherford of Warner Robins, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
