Obituary for Ray Hammell
Ray Hammell, 80, died early Thursday morning, July 13, 2017 at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Oakfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m., Monday, July 17, 2017 until time to depart for the cemetery.
He was born in Oceanside, N.Y. to the late Theodore Charles Hammell and the late Mildred Naomi Shedaker Hammell. He is preceded in death by a son, Raymond Charles Hammell, Jr. and a sister, Elaine Embry.
Ray was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed working in his workshop. He was of the Protestant faith. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife: Rose E. Hammell of Oakfield; his son: William T. Hammell of Oakfield; his daughters: Peggy Sue Hammell of Cordele and Michelle Lynn Graber of Sunrise, Fla.; his brother: Ronald (Barbara) Pace of South Miami, Fla.; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
